This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 17th. As always, we’ll be starting at the Fremont City Park and riding through some of the most beautiful scenery in Iowa. We’ll have a mix of paved and unpaved roads, so there will be something for everyone. And of course, there will be plenty of stops along the way so we can enjoy the views and take some photos.

The Aftermath of the Leaf River Dual Sport
The AMA District 17 dual sport series recently wrapped up its final event of the season, the Leaf River Dual Sport. The series, which consists of five events held throughout Iowa, is designed to challenge riders of all skill levels and provide a fun way to explore the state on two wheels.
This year’s Leaf River event was held on October 14-15 and featured over 200 miles of off-road trails. Riders had the option to compete in either the Ironman or Enduro classes, with both requiring multiple laps of a 50-mile loop.
The Ironman class is for riders who want to test their endurance by completing as many laps as possible within the time limit, while the Enduro class is more focused on rider skill, with points being awarded based on how well riders do at various checkpoints along the course.
Either way, it’s a challenging event that takes patience, focus, and physical fitness to complete. And it’s not just about finishing ufffd it’s also about enjoying the ride and taking in the scenery.
Of course, no matter how prepared you are, there’s always going to be some degree of uncertainty when embarking on an adventure like this. Will the weather hold out? What kind of terrain will I encounter? How will my body hold up after hours in the saddle?
Fortunately, Mother Nature cooperated this year and riders were treated to sunny skies and mild temperatures throughout both days of competition. As for the terrain, participants had to contend with everything from sand pits and mud bogs to rocky creek crossings and tight tree-lined trails.
In other words: It was a typical Iowa fall day!
Despite all these challenges (or perhaps because of them), everyone who took part in this year’s Leaf River Dual Sport had an incredible time. Whether they were riding solo or part of a team, competing for trophies or simply enjoying the experience, everyone left with stories to tell and memories to cherish. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
