The 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a compact SUV that seats five and comes standard with front-wheel drive. It’s available in four trim levels: ES, LE, SE and GT.
The base ES comes with 16-inch steel wheels, LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, heated side mirrors, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, 60/40-split folding rear seatbacks, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity and a six-speaker audio system with USB ports and an auxiliary input.

The top GT model has 19 – inch wheels ( again with all – season tires on front – wheel drive models ), xenon headlights , LED taillights , rain – sensing windshield wipers , automatic high beams , remote start ( if you opt for the continuously variable automatic transmission ) . Inside there are perforated leather upholstery seating surfaces with red stitching throughout as well as heated second row outboard positions . The center stack display grows to 8 inches in size while navigation is now included . A panoramic sunroof is newly standard as well .
Underneath the Outlander Sport’s hood is a 148 horsepower 2.0 liter four cylinder engine that teams up with either a 5 speed manual transmission or optional CVT . Front wheel drive models come standard but all wheel drive can be added for $ 1 500 regardless of trim level selected . Fuel economy isn’t great no matter which powertrain you choose as EPA estimates range from 24 mpg city / 31 highway / 26 combined when using the manual to 27/32/29 when opting for front wheel drive CVT equipped examples . Choose all wheel drive instead of two driven wheels however those numbers drop slightly to 26 city / 30 highway / 28 combined regardless of whether you go manual or automatic due to extra weight penalties involved

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, and the 2021 model is finally here. Although it may not be an all-new car, the Outlander Sport has received some significant updates for 2021.
On the outside, the Outlander Sport now features LED headlights and taillights as standard equipment. The front and rear fascias have also been updated, giving the Outlander Sport a more modern look.
Inside, there’s a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The upholstery has been upgraded as well, and there are now additional USB ports throughout the cabin.
Underneath, the suspension has been retuned for improved ride comfort and handling. The engine remains unchanged from last year, but Mitsubishi has added a new CVT transmission option for better fuel economy.
So what are our final thoughts on the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport? It’s a sharp-looking SUV with plenty of standard features, but it’s not without its flaws. The engine could use more power and the CVT transmission isn’t our favorite, but overall we think the Outlander Sport is worth considering if you’re in the market for a small SUV.
